Paulding County News and Notes: Spring 2025

As the flowers bloom and the days grow longer, Paulding County, Georgia, has witnessed a season filled with commendable achievements and initiatives by its dedicated public servants. From heroic acts by first responders to educational milestones, the community has much to celebrate. 
 

Fire and Rescue: Heroism and Community Engagement 

On March 26, 2025, Lieutenant Brad Hogan of the Paulding County Fire Department was recognized for his exceptional service and commitment to public safety. His leadership and dedication have significantly contributed to the department's mission of protecting the community. 
 
And in April 2025, Paulding County firefighters extended their service beyond state lines by assisting in flood and swift water rescue operations in Kentucky. Their efforts exemplify the department's readiness to respond to emergencies wherever needed. 
 

Education: Celebrating Excellence and Future Educators 

On April 18, 2025, the Paulding Education Foundation and the Paulding County School District hosted the annual Teacher of the Year Banquet at Greystone Power, honoring outstanding educators who have made significant impacts in their classrooms and the community. Dr. Rosalyn Zabala, an educator at Dobbins Middle School, was named Paulding County's 2025 Teacher of the Year in recognition of her exceptional dedication to student growth and academic excellence. Known for her innovative teaching style and ability to connect real-world concepts to classroom learning, Dr. Zabala creates an inclusive, engaging environment that inspires both students and fellow educators. Her recognition is a testament to the impact passionate teachers have on shaping future generations and reflects the district's continued commitment to honoring outstanding educators. 
 
Additionally, Mrs. Mitchelson, a dedicated educator in the Paulding County School District, was selected as a 2025 Grosvenor Teacher Fellow. This prestigious recognition offers educators the opportunity to travel and engage in field-based experiences, enriching their teaching and inspiring students. 
 

Student Achievements and Academic Excellence 

On April 30, 2025, State Superintendent Richard Woods presented Math Leader award banners to East Paulding Middle School, Sammy McClure Middle School, and Paulding County High School. This recognition highlights the schools' commitment to excellence in mathematics education. 
 
Earlier in the month, the Paulding County Special Olympics hosted its annual Track and Field event at Paulding County High School, bringing together a wonderful community of support and showcasing the talents of incredible PCSD students.
