Education: Honoring Excellence in Teaching
The Douglas County School System has announced the 2025-2026 School Teachers of the Year, honoring educators who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and impact in their classrooms. These teachers were selected by their peers for their passion, innovation, and dedication to student success. Each honoree will represent their school community in the selection process for the district-wide Teacher of the Year.
They also recently hosted the annual "Future Educators Signing Day," celebrating students committed to pursuing careers in education. This event, initially championed by past Teacher of the Year Brooke Morris, recognizes students who have completed the Early Childhood Education or Teaching as a Profession pathways. Superintendent Dr. Trent North praised the students for choosing a path that will shape future generations.

The ceremony honored law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty and acknowledged the ongoing commitment of current officers to protect the community.
